CPC Mission Banquet 2023

Last night Georgia and I had the pleasure of taking part in the Cypress Point Church Missions Banquet which has been held every year to support CPC’s overseas missions initiatives. Guests enjoy entertainment, food, silent auctions and raffles for gift baskets with all donations going towards CPC’s yearly mission trips to Southeast Asia. For many years now Georgia has also completed live paintings during the event which gets auctioned at the end of the night and last night was no exception!

The theme she chose involved a typical northern Thai view of the green mountains seen from a porch. A birdcage and birds symbolizes the rescued children and the obstacles they face due to their circumstances, but its open door also symbolizes the freedom offered by Christ and missionaries who go to teach them about Him. The birds are sparrows, common all over the world but also used in metaphors throughout the Bible, such as:

“Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground outside your Father’s care. And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. So don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.”
Matthew 10:29-31

Our missionary friends Bob and Connie won the auction, the proceeds for which have gone towards our mission fund. We’re very grateful for their support and generosity. All in all it was a great time and also potentially our last banquet since we’ll be shortly transitioning to life abroad again. We’d encourage anyone to check it out when it comes back around next year!
